The continuous breakthroughs of big data technology worldwide and the wide-ranging needs of various
industries have sparked a huge interest in data science, big data technology and its applications.
Consequently, there is a huge demand for talents in data science and big data technology. The Data Science
and Big Data Technology major intends to train next generation data scientists to obtain a solid foundation
in the theory and methodology of data science and big data technology, proficient computer programming and
implementation skills, the ability to solve real world problems with big data technology-related research
and development. The advent of the big data era provides broad development opportunities and employment
channels for data science talents. Graduates can either engage further in data science research or
contribute to society in all sectors of the society, such as government, financial institutions, education,
research institutes, consultancy.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Explain data problems arising in different areas of science, technology, and the society. (Knowledge)
- Model the problem with learned mathematics theories and models (Execution)
- Apply different mathematical tools to model data problems in application areas. (Execution)
- Design and implement efficient algorithms to model the data and solve the problem. (Execution)
- Evaluate information and make independent judgements through constructing and inferencing with
appropriate data models. (Judgement) - Communicate effectively about data science to both laymen and experts. (Communication)
- Demonstrate self-direction in tackling and solving problems and act autonomously in planning and
implementing tasks. (Autonomy) - Use a global perspective in conjunction with data analytic techniques to address issues of importance in
science, technology, and the society. (International outlook)

招生方式：
高考提前批次录取，不设综合评价。
英语（外语）要求：
考生英语（外语）单科成绩≥120分
2024年本科招生的选科要求：
1）在“3+1+2”高考模式下的省市，要求考生首选物理，次选化学，其他科目不限。
2）在“3+3”高考模式下的省市，要求考生必选物理和化学，其他科目不限。
3）在传统文理分科的省市，要求考生必选理科。
